Leander takes No. 1 spot in 5A/4A weekly rankings, Round Rock still tops 6A

Giddings (11-0-3) and Round Rock (9-0-4) remain the only undefeated teams in the Greater Austin Metro area. The Lady Dragons kept the No. 1 spot in the On the Sidelines Sports weekly girls soccer rankings in Class 6A, while Giddings falls to No. 3.

Leander jumps three spots to take over the No. 1 spot in our Class 5A-4A poll, while Georgetown drops a spot, bumping the Lady Buffaloes to No. 3.  

In Class 6A, Anderson drops to No. 5 after losing to Bowie and tying with Austin.

The district title race 24-5A is going to be interesting over the next couple of weeks. LASA and McCallum, the No. 4 and No. 5 teams in our Class 5A/4A poll, are in a dead heat with Ann Richards for the championship with one pint separating the three teams.

Class 6A Power 5

1. Round Rock (10-0-3)

The Lady Dragons stayed undefeated last week with a 2-2 draw with Westwood and a 4-1 victory over Vista Ridge.

2.  Westwood (9-2-3)

Sophomore Mia Wiele had an excellent week of play to help the Lady Warriors to a 2-1 win over Vandegrift and a 2-2 draw with Round Rock as the second round of district play got underway.

3. Vista Ridge (9-4-3)

The Lady Rangers dropped a pair of decisions to Round Rock (4-1) and Cedar Ridge (2-1) last week.

4. Lake Travis (10-3)

The Cavaliers solidified their position in first place in District 26-6A with a 4-2 win over Johnson this past Friday and a 6-0 win over Akins.

5. Anderson (8-2-2)

The Lady Trojans dropped a 4-3 decision to Bowie on Tuesday and played Austin High to a 1-1 tie.  

Class 5A/4A Power 5
1. Leander (14-1-3)

The Lady Lions leapfrog from No. 4 take the top spot this week after defeating Cedar Park 2-1 and rolling to a 8-0 win over Lockhart on Tuesday.

2. Georgetown (12-1-3)

The Lady Eagles drop to No. 2 despite a pair of 6-0 shutout wins over East View and Bastrop.

3. Giddings (11-0-3)

The Lady Buffaloes remained undefeated with two more shutouts by senior goalkeeper Faith Zoch, who has not allowed a goal since Jan. 19.

4. LASA (11-1-2)

The Lady Raptors defeated Eastside and Travis by a combined score of 13-0.

5. McCallum (11-2-1)

The Lady Knights defeated Northeast 8-1 in their only match this past week.
